What Is the Difference Between Barbour and Barbour International?
A unique family business
The first time Barbour saw the light of day was back in 1894, on a marketplace in England, and today it is a world-encompassing company, successful in over 40 countries. There are several reasons behind the success of the company, but a combination of good design and the family business’ clear values have come to win the hearts of the consumers. Today the company is run by the 5th generation, and they still guarantee that their products are of a high quality and focus on designing clothes suitable for each and any man’s wardrobe. Throughout the years Barbour have received several royal awards, a testament to their high quality and stylish design.
Barbour International
In 1936, Duncan Barbour, a motorcycle enthusiast and part of the 3rd generation of the family designed, a series of one-piece cotton suits which he called Barbour International. They were specifically designed for the international 6-day race (ISDT), one of the oldest off road motocross races there are. The products ended up being so popular that they were used by more or less all the drivers from the 1950s to the 1970s.
Today the brand stands alone, and in 2018 it got its own site containing decades of motorcycle history and biker-look inspired collections. They have taken the historical styles and developed them in new manners, presenting their collections to a new generation of consumers.
Barbour International can be identified by their eye-catching yellow logo and their approach to design, which comes from the history of motorcycles. We have already got our hands on their spring collection, which is now available in stores and online.
