Climate compensated freight and delivery

Climate compensated freight and delivery

Unlike trading in physical stores, the two biggest carbon emitting activities from our online shop are packaging and freight - two activities that are inherently essential for online trading. We have designed this page to provide transparency and to inform our customers, in an honest way, of the conscious choices we have made to offset and minimise some of the CO₂ emissions for which we are responsible.

Sustainable and recyclable packaging

Recyclable packaging

When you shop on our website, your order is always sent in plastic bags made from recycled plastic or in FSC-labelled cardboard boxes. The FSC label is a guarantee that the cardboard comes from forests where no more wood is felled than the forest can reproduce.

We've also designed our packaging to be reusable in case you want to return your product - minimising the use of packaging. When we receive returned goods, we always assess whether we can reuse the packaging for internal use, otherwise it is sent to the recycling centre.

Climate compensated freight

When you shop at our webshop, your order will be picked up by one of our three partners - PostNord, GLS and DHL - who will deliver your orders to you.

Freight and delivery associated with online commerce continues to be the largest contributor to CO₂ emissions, and while our three partners are all making efforts to reduce their CO₂ emissions, for example by using solar energy or electric cars, there is still a need for additional measures.

Climate offsetting is one of several complementary measures. Climate offsetting is a method of compensating for part of the CO₂ emitted by our carriers when handling and delivering our parcels. Offsetting is done by providing financial support to various global climate projects that reduce CO₂ emissions.

At KAUFMANN, we're committed to this goal, which is why we always ship your package with climate-compensated shipping. This means that for every parcel we send, we provide financial support to the nature projects of the carrier concerned.

All our PostNord parcels are climate compensated through their own unique project in Hals Mose in cooperation with the Danish Nature Foundation. You can read more about it here.

DHL Express has a similar setup, which you can read about here.

To compensate for our consumption of GLS parcel transport, we have chosen to buy our own trees that absorb CO2, and have recently chosen Treedom, as a partner. You can see and read about our trees here.
